Homework :
English 120 AP
Students will begin presentations on Jane Eyre this week. They should finish their reading of Great Expectations by May 31st.
The AP exam was written on May 5th. Everyone felt that it went well (we'll keep our fingers crossed). Their final term paper is due June 6th (Jayne Eyre or Great Expectations--their choice).
Media Studies 120
We begin our work on Television next week.
English 112B
Students have completed their reading of Macbeth and we are well into our class study of the play. They wrote their first test on Acts 1 and 2, 2 weeks ago. We should finish our study of the play early this week, and their final test is planned for this Thursday, May 20th.

Welcome
to Mr. Guravich's website :
Here you will find information about me, the courses I teach, and my work as Department Head of English for Hampton High School.
This year I will teach Literacy 110, English 112, English 122, Media Studies 120, and Advanced Placement English 121 and 120.
The position of Literacy Specialist (one I have held for the past three years) no longer exists at HHS, a result of the recent cuts to education funding in the province.
Education:
B.A. (Honours English), Queen's University; B.Ed., Queen's University; M.A. (English), UNB Fredericton.
As Department Head of English at HHS, I'm responsible for eight language arts teachers, the curriculum we teach, the texts and supplementary materials we use, as well as the equipment found in our classrooms.
All teachers in the English Department provide course outlines of each subject taught to their students, and copies of these are collected by me and kept in the Department Head Office.
Our department has a comprehensive policy that all students receive at the beginning of the year (it is now available on our department website).
Text books, curriculum and supplementary texts, are ordered annually and distributed among language arts classrooms
We continue to strive to better prepare our students for writing the English Language Proficiency Assessment. Grade 9 teachers worked as a distinct PLC this past year to compile a comprehensive E.L.P.A. Preparation Manual and it is now complete (congratualtions to all who worked on this awesome project--especially Mr. Stoddart) and available for use by teachers both at HHS and elsewhere in the province.
We also continue to promote cross-curricular literacy, although time-constraints may limit my personal involvement in this initiative.
