Student Hours: 8:15-3:00

Basic Rules & Regulations:

  • Talking must be kept to a whisper.
  • No Food or Drink.
  • Knapsacks and jackets must be left at entryway.
  • Students using the library during class time must have a permission slip, unless accompanied by a teacher.

Borrowing Privileges:
Most books(maximum of 2) can be signed out for two weeks. Borrowing privileges will be suspended if items are not returned by the due date.

Computers:
Computers are avaliable for students use during the school day with permission of the librarian. A student access code is also required.

Books:
All works of fiction are organized in alphabetical order by author. There are four different sections:

  1. General Fiction
  2. Science Fiction
  3. Youth Fiction
  4. Canadian

Non-fiction (biographies, history etc.) books are categorized by number (000-999) using the Dewey Decimal Classification system. Charts and signs are visable throughout the room to assist students in locating various topic areas. A computer search system is also available (see searching for information) and is very easy to use.

The Reference section contains a vast selection of encyclopedias, manuals, and information publications on any number of topics and is organized acording to the Dewey Decimal Classification system. all material in this area is for reference use only and may not be signed out.

Vertical Files
An extensive collection of news clippings, essays and magazine articles on a vast number of topics. These files are kept in the librarian's office, and are available for reference use only.

Searching for Information
Doubble click the Library Book Search icon on any school computer. A search screen will then appear. the user may then search by author, subject or title . the system will then display the type of material available as well as a call number, which indicates where it can be located within the library.
